Information on current COVID-19 areas of concern

Under a Public Health Direction in the ACT, you may need to take a range of actions to protect yourself and the ACT community depending on where you have recently been or are travelling from.

Local Government Areas subject to a COVID Affected Area status (Quarantine requirement)

The following rules apply for anyone who has been in

ACT residents

ACT residents who have been in any of the affected local government areas may return to the ACT but must first complete an exemption form with proof of their ACT residential status. Once approved, they must abide by Quarantine requirements.

Non-ACT residents

Non-ACT residents who have been in any of the affected local government areas cannot travel to the ACT. Exemptions to enter the ACT are considered in urgent and exceptional circumstances only.

Close contacts

Anyone who has been identified by a State or Territory health department as a close contact, or has attended a close contact exposure location under the ACT’s Public Health Direction, must enter mandatory quarantine until 14 days after their last exposure to a confirmed case, and get tested for COVID-19. Anyone who is a close contact must not travel to the ACT without an exemption.

Close contacts must continue to quarantine even after receiving a negative test result and must not leave quarantine without an exemption, other than for emergency purposes.

Casual contacts

Anyone who has been to a casual contact exposure location under the ACT’s Public Health Direction must immediately get tested for COVID-19 and isolate until receiving a negative result.
